Review : NEW Jonathan Green Rootine Hair Shampoo, Conditioner + Smoothing Cream

So what happens when well-known hair care brand, Jonathan Product, teams up with ultra-clean natural brand Keys CareGreen Rootine happens.  I get so many questions about hair care and truth be told, it's a tough area to venture into because this really is the arena where you'll likely experience a noticeable difference in performance between conventional and natural hair care products.  And I'm not going to lie, you are definitely going to notice the difference between this Jonathan Green Rootine Shampoo and your standard salon or store brand. You'll notice the foaming action and slip is different, you may notice a squeaky sounds when you're lathering up and rinsing out.  But you'll also notice that it performs remarkable well for ingredients this clean and simple.  I've been using this for almost a month and it went on my business trip with me for 2 weeks and believe you me - I would not have taken a sub-par product with me on a business trip because unlike my normal days of working from home, I had to look presentable and professional on this trip.  There was no room for greasy, gunk-filled hair, which has sadly been the case for other natural shampoo I've tried in the past. I've never really seen such ultra-clean ingredients fused with this kind of good performance.

Jonathan Green Rootine Shampoo $20

This is a liquid soap in a pump-top bottle.  I'm a foam addict so it takes me 6-8 pumps to get the bubbles I want for my amount of hair {I have a lot of hair}.  After almost a month I have a little left, probably another 3-4 shampoos worth.  This does not feel like your normal shampoo, it's very light and makes my hair squeak when lathering it up in my locks.  But no matter, just be sure you use a conditioner after washing.  Has a nice spearmint aroma.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Saponified Cocos Nucifera (Coconut), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba), Olea Europaea (Olive) and Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oils, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Extract, Mentha Viridis (Spearmint) Leaf Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract
Jonathan Green Rootine Conditioner $22

This has a lotion-type consistency and I immediately noticed the aroma of the Nigella Sativa (black seed oil)  ingredient, a super healer that is in many of the Keys products for its superior curative properties.  I'm sure they included it for treating scalp issues because it is a powerful ingredient.  This aroma is mixed with spearmint for a lovely, gender unspecific fragrance. I use about a silver dollar amount of this.  I love it.  My scalp feel moisturized and my hair feels smoothed.

Ingredients: Water/Aqua, Avocado Oil (Persea Gratissima), Black Seed Oil (Nigella Sativa), Rapeseed Seed Oil (Brassica Campestris), Spearmint Leaf Oil (Mentha Viridis), Orange peel Oil (Citrus Aurantium Dulcis), Rosemary Leaf Oil (Rosmarinus Officinalis), Emulsifying Wax (Made from Avocado, Orange Flower and Orange Peel Wax)

Jonathan Green Rootine Silkening Cream $24

I use this when my hair is still wet after getting out of the shower if I'm going to flat iron my hair.  This is not the product for you if you are trying to create or accentuate curls.  This makes my naturally wavy hair go flat, which is why I love it when I'm going for a smooth, flat look.  I squirt about a half dime size or less into my palm, rub both hands together and run my hands through my damp hair.  This does a very good job at taming the flyaways and rangling the frizz that happens at the base of my hair line underneath my ponytail. Also has a lotion-like consistency.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Glycerin (Vegetable USP), Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii), Avocado Oil (Persea Gratissima), Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis), Black Seed Oil (Nigella Sativa ), Orange Peel Oil (Citrus Aurantium Dulcis), Spearmint Leaf Oil (Mentha Viridis), Clary Sage Oil (Salvia Sclarea), Rosemary Leaf Oil (Rosmarinus Officinalis), Emulsifying Wax (Made from Avocado, Orange Flower and Orange Peel)

You should know that I have thick hair prone towards frizziness and can only speak for that hair type.  I have no idea how this would fare for those of you with thin hair.  I like the way this smooths my hair and tames frizz.  I can't recommend these products for wavy or curly hair as they made mine go flat, which is what I want sometimes when that's the look I'm after and I'm going to flat iron it for a sleek look.  If you want bouncy curls, use MGA and then try this natural curl enhancing method using Amal Oils.  Amazingly, it actually  works.  The Green Rootine line is great for those who have scalp problems, those highly sensitive to conventional hair products or those who have been looking for the most natural of hair care products around. Definitely check this line out!
