I'm not one to shop at Payless for footwear but in these days of budget-crunching and wallet-clenching - really, what better time than now for Payless to launch Zoe&Zac, an eco-friendly line of footwear available to the masses for $30 and under?
As to the extent of their sustainability, that has yet to be clearly identified, but I can tell you that model/environmentalist, Summer Rayne Oakes helps add validity to the claim since she partnered with Payless to consult on the "eco-ness" of the line. I definitely appreciate that she wants "green" to be available to everyone, not just those who can drop $200+ on a pair of designer eco shoes. After all, don't we want all manufacturers and retailers to get on board (no matter their price point) and embrace the use of sustainable materials like biodegradable glues and organic cotton that will apparently be used in this line? I have yet to hear anything about where this footwear will be made, but this seems to be a step in the right direction for Payless and good news for those with limited funds who still want to help make a difference.
