Be Part of The Conversation :: Chemicals And Our Children

We just received word from our contact at Seventh Generation that they, along with the Environmental Working Group, will be hosting A Conversation About Chemicals and Our Children at the Boston Children's Museum on October 14th, 2008 from 6 - 7:30pm EST. They've lined up a stellar panel of experts in the field of social and environmental sustainability who will all join in on a discussion about how chemicals in our environment are affecting our children.

This is a huge topic for me and I know it's becoming a bigger issue with many parents out there now that we have more information available to us. If you are still in need of some more information, you can read this article from the EWG or watch this compelling video (it's about 22 minutes long, so you may want to wait for naptime.)

We all want to protect our children and we are finding out more and more that we must look beyond just keeping them out of the street and away from strangers. There are hundreds of chemicals inundating our children's systems before they even enter the world. With disease on the rise, and no obvious explanation of why - we as parents must look more closely at the world we live in and join the discussion on how to cut down on toxins in our environment - for the sake of the next generation. If you live near Boston and are interested in this topic, I would encourage you to go and be part of this important discussion. Space is limited so be sure to RSVP. Children are welcome, admission is free and there are refreshments too! Of course, if you attend, please come back to Fig+Sage and let us know your thoughts - we'd love to hear about it!
